Why The Baltimore Orioles Haven’t Been To The World Series In Almost Thirty Years

March 12, 2011 Leave a comment

The Baltimore Orioles of the early eighties was a great team with players like; Cal Ripkin, Eddie Murray, Rick Dempsey etc. In 1983 they finished first and went on to win the World Series. Along the way they vanquished the Chicago White Sox the “winning ugly” team led by Tony LaRussa who were making their first post season appearance since 1959. It was a heartbreaking loss for the south side legions including this obviously devastated fan.

In this shocking video we see a primitive ritual take place. A masked individual rips up sets on fire a rookie baseball card of Cal Ripkin Jr. Just some drunken stunt you may well be saying to yourself but consider this. Since this “ritual” has taken place the Orioles have not been back to the World Series. In fact they have only made two playoff arrearences since then.

So as spring training is under way and almost everybody’s hopes are still high keep this in mind Baltimore fans it ain’t gonna happen. I’m sure though with the right kind of “influence” this curse could be lifted. Now that’s the Chicago way!
